Wellington Point Village Green - Rotary Morning Games and Pancakes
Mens Shed Band played another gig at a Wellington Point Rotary morning at the Wellington Point Village Green on 29 June 2024. Lots of people attended and we were well received with good audience participation.
The band is lead by Gordy and Glen, with John on guitar, Denis on Baritone ukulele, Norm on bongos, Steve on Cajon, with other members playing back up on uke's and guitars. We played a range of numbers from our song book, and enjoyed the cool winters morning sunlight. This is just one of a number of places the Mens Shed Band plays for community organisation's.
A number of our members play in smaller groups at age care facilities around the Redlands, bringing joy to the aged citizens living there.
Australia Day Celebration
Uniting Church Cleveland
25th January 2024
Birkdale Mens Shed Band had a return engagement to play at the Uniting Church in Cleveland for an Australia Day Celebration morning tea.
We played a variety of songs from old classics, country, and of course good old Aussie favorites, all with audience participation who sang along and and provided percussion with shakers and tamborines..
After playing two sets we finished appropriately with Advance Australia Fair.
Following audience appreciation, the Band was thanked by the representatives of the Church.
Its always a pleasure to play this venue and we look forward to a return engagement in the future, especially when its a bit cooler!
Mens Shed Band played at two events during the December Christmas celebration period in Redlands.
1. Wellington Point Christmas Markets 2nd December.
It was a hot and steamy evening but despite this the Mens Shed Band came through with a set of songs from the Mens Shed song book and of course Christmas Carols!
This was preceded by Mens Shed members Gordie and John who played a range of songs during a one hour gig.
Judging by the applause from the market audience both performances went down well so a good time was had by all!
2. Redlands Uniting Church, Cleveland, 22nd December.
In celebration of the Christmas lights display at the Redlands Uniting Church in Cleveland, the Mens Shed Band was invited to perform, playing for one and a half hours. The audience was interactive, joining in on carols and some of the songs from the Mens Shed song book.
