Our object is to advance the health and well-being of our members by providing a welcoming and friendly environment where skilled and unskilled men can meet, in the company of other men:
(a) Pursue hobbies, pastimes and interests
(b) Learn new skills, practice and pass on old skills
(c) Learn about their own and other men’s health and well-being
(d) By their efforts, contribute to their families, their friends, the Shed and their community
(e) Mentor younger men
In short, we welcome like minded men who are interested in Arts, Crafts, Music and Poetry, playing cards, or just want to have a good old chin wag
Men's Shed Band;
The Men's Shed Band started of about 3-4 years ago with roughly 6 members. It grew from there to the number we have today, around 40 sometimes more.
Some band members have been playing for years, while others only recently
Gordie and Glenn lead the band in both vocals and playing either guitar and or banjo, the guys in the band play a variety of instruments. The band has compiled two song books since forming, now combined in the third edition. We have come a long way in a short time.
The emphasis is on enjoyment of what we do musically and our ability to perform as a musical group.
we believe we achieve just that.
“Off The Record” (OTR) Rock Band;
Formed in 2019 for the 2019 November Cabaret and then we had hiatus due to COVID and then were able to return to have Christmas in July Cabaret in 2022
OTR is a four (4) piece rock band playing classic and contemporary songs from the 1950’s to the 2020’s (present)
The band consists of John Conaty on lead/rhythm guitar and blues harp, Ronnie Dent on drums with vocals, Peter Downie on keyboards with vocals and Rob Jerome on bass guitar with vocals
We are also available for other Community Organisations, Clubs and Private functions being Parties, Weddings etc.
Broader Activities.
While many members play musical instruments in the band, others enjoy their time playing cards, drawing or painting in art sessions, plus a new activity, Creative Writing commencing in 2024.
Members also have days out to visit various places or interest.
Charity.
Mens Shed has a commitment to donating to our adopted charity, Night Ninjas. We do so throughout the year by donating food stuffs, specific items needed by the charity, and collecting drinks cans and bottles for refund, which is then donated.
